Was it inappropriate to tell the movie theater usher I work at a competing movie theater?

Me and my friend got a tour around a first-class movie theater by an usher. He mentioned how it had better services and prices than the other movie theater. I mentioned that I worked at the rival movie theater, and his response was "Oh, so you know what it’s like there then." He chuckled, but I wasn’t sure if he actually liked what I said. Should I have kept my mouth shut?

Nah, there’s no problem with that. Don’t worry about it.

What do I need to do to become a movie theater manager?

I am a college student and work at a movie theater. I have been trained and have worked at every position (box, doorman, concessions, and usher). I arrive early, I fill in for sick co-workers, and I volunteer to stay late.

I want to eventually become a manager because I think it would look great on my resume. The only problem there is that I have only worked there for just under 90 days. Would it be appropriate to mention my desire to move up during my 90 day review?

Don’t make it seem like you are trying to take the current manager’s job during the 90 day review or things could get real rough for you! I would ask if there is a assistant manager position. That shows interest without scaring the manager into thinking his days are numbered.

For my birthday I want to rent a movie theater for me and my friends. How much is that?

I would like to rent a theater near Ft. Walton Beach and Destin Florida. I only want one room, not the whole building. What are some good places for that and about how much would that cost? It would only be for a few hours and I know people who have been able to set up like their wii or something to the movie screen. Is there a place around that area that would let me do that? Thanks!

Regal Sun Plaza Stadium 8 is with Regmovies.com. If you go to: http://www.regmovies.com/groupsales/

to book your private screening and birthday party, then you have to fill out the online form. You must know the estimated number of people attending, and submit the form online. Than Regal Cinemas will contact you and give you a quote. It is usually around $12-$15 a person per movie. It usually includes a room for your party plus a theatre or section of a theatre room reserved. If you want to pay a little bit extra, than Regal can do a classic movie or movie that isn’t in theatres any more.

What do you call the space between hallway doors and theater doors in a movie theater?

I’m working on a project that involves designing a movie theater, and I’d like to know what to call the space. For example, when you’re in the hallway getting ready to enter the theater that’s showing your movie, you enter one set of doors into a dim corridor, then another set of doors into the theater proper. Is there a specific name for that short corridor?

It could possibly be referred to as the foyer. I looked at some design plans, and it was usually labeled simply as "exit".

How can I get my application noticed when applying at a popular movie theater?

I want to get a job at this movie theater in my town, but a lot of people try and get jobs at this movie theater. How can I stand above my peers and get my application and ME noticed?

Talk to the hiring manager when you turn it in so they can put a "face" to the application, shake their hand, be inquisitive about the job and show that you really want it.

How to open up a movie theater?

I want to open up a movie theater somewhere near I live but I just have no idea how to. Could I have some suggestions?

What is the best age to introduce toddlers to a movie theater?

I have a very active 4 yr. old boy who can barely sit through a 30 minute TV show. I want to take him to see the new Cars movie, but I’m afraid that after the first 30 minutes, he will want to get up and explore around and run and talk. Should I wait for it to come out on DVD and try the movie theater another time when he’s older?

Yes, wait. It is not fair to the other people who paid to see the movie. I know it’s frustrating, I have 2 kids.

Should i work at a movie theater concessions or push carts at a grocery store?

I know the one I would rather do, but I went to so much trouble just getting job back at grocery store, but I got a call about working at a Regal movie theater which sounds more intersting and exciting to me. I need some opinions?

The job at the movie theater probably sounds like lots of fun, you probably know a bunch of other people working there, and you get free movies. But they are also probably going to pay you absolute minimum wage and treat you like a kid. Pushing carts at a grocery store doesn’t sound glamorous but there are lots of opportunity to move up through the years and get regular raises while you’re going to school. Plus the hours are probably a little better and you may get outta working more holidays. I’ve done grocery store work before and my roommate worked at Regal for a few years and I always seemed to be getting the better end of the deal. I say give the grocery store a shot.

How do I convince a movie theater to show a movie?

A movie I want to see is only "playing in select theaters." How can I get my local theater to carry the movie?

If you can somehow demonstrate local interest in the movie, you might get through to theater management. But since theater chains are in the business for profit and base their decisions on demographic studies and historical successes and failures, it’s doubtful they’ll show the movie any other reason.

You might have better luck convincing management to offer limited special showings, say to 12:30 AM on Fridays and Saturdays for a couple of weeks. The key is to limit their financial risk.

Why are movie theater employees allowed to see a free movie?

Everytime I see a movie, employees just stand there and do nothing! They arnt sweeping or cleaning up or anything and they stand for the entire movie and see a free movie at a theater and not have to pay! Why is that? It drives me crazy. I wish I had a job like them where I can watch new movies everyday and not pay!

Get a job at a movie theater.
