You enjoy a great passion for Bible studies and the way of the Lord, but conveying that passion to a classroom of sometimes rowdy and inattentive students requires discipline and creativity. Here are some best kept secrets you can use to transform the “rigors” of Bible study into an enjoyable and memorable educational experience.

First, choose your materials wisely. So many religious texts for children are either overly dry or flowery or even insipid. Today’s generation of internet-raised children need to be stimulated — not with tons of electronic learning tools but rather with great stories that build solid morals. Talk to other Sunday school teachers about which books and materials work best in terms of reaching kids. Experiment with various stories and projects — your kids can act as a de facto focus group to help you find the best material for your teaching style.

Along those lines, make sure you are prepared for class. Kids can tune out easily if their instructor doesn’t command the space. You need not be the most eloquent public speaker or engaging personality to keep peoples’ attention. But you do need to have a plan in place and to communicate that plan. Review your lesson each week. Bundle your information thematically. Bring in props or guests or materials that the kids can physically handle to make the lessons come alive.

Engage your students by answering questions — no matter how ridiculous or potentially heretical. Kids are natural curious about God and about the world around them. If you don’t know the answer to a specific Biblical question or prayer-related matter, talk to a church authority who can help you. If you’re overly rigid and dogmatic, you run the risk of turning off children and shutting down their minds.

Make religious ceremonies and prayers concrete. Try games, sports and show and tell projects to involve your students in the myths and rituals you teach. Kids naturally enjoy play acting different Biblical characters – so why not host a Bible-based talent contest? Kids can write Bible-based plays, do a Christian music dance-off, or even do Bible karaoke. Of course, you don’t want to turn your Bible class into a free for all — you do need the kids to attend to the lessons — but you can find plenty of ways to spice up the classroom without sacrificing the profundity of your mission.

Be passionate about what you are teaching. It may have been a while since you reviewed the classic biblical tales. But the texts of Christianity are rich with important life lessons that are applicable to practically any dilemma the modern kid might face. Bring the Bible to life by letting the children see your own passion for the material. If you don’t care about the lessons, how can you expect others to listen and connect with the material?

Keep order. If you have a class disciplinary problem, nip this in the bud right away. Once your classroom senses that you’ve lost control of the wheel, you may find it very difficult to regain order. While you don’t want to be overly strict — images of stern-faced nuns slapping disobedient children with rulers come to mind — you do need to make sure that the kids in your class know their place. You can use your support staff to enforce rules. Your priest or administrator can help you manage particularly difficult students or emotionally tricky situations. You can also call in parents if things get really out of control. Lay out the “law of the land” early, so that kids know your expectations. Be clear and regular in your enforcement of these rules. If you go soft sometimes and overreact at other times, you will confuse the situation and undermine your authority.

Above all, lean on your abiding your love of children to see you through the tough times and to guide your instruction. You are going to make mistakes, and you will encounter classroom situations that throw you for a loop. But by leaning on that fundamental love that draws you to teach Sunday school, you can overcome obstacles.

Finally, remember that you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Borrow lesson plans from other, more experienced Sunday school teachers. The internet offers a panoply of courses, ideas, and activities for Bible study. Your school may have its own curriculum that constraints you. Or you may before forced by time considerations to focus only on a set agenda. Even if you are held to rigorous constraints, find some ways to inject your personality and sense of faith into the lessons.

How to Start Your Childs Acting Career

Starting your childs acting career is not that different compared to an adult. The only difference is that as a parent, you are the one encouraging your child to attend auditions, classes and other events so an agent or someone from the entertainment industry will take notice and give them a chance to be on television or the movies.

The best way to get your foot in the door is to hire an agent. This individual must be licensed so you are sure that if your child is accepted, they can legally negotiate deals for you. A licensed talent agent will never ask money up front since they only get paid whenever you land a part.

If you want, you can also have manager to look after your childs interest although this is not required. Those who want to have one are usually represented by the parents themselves perhaps to balance school and other things that happen as they go through life.

Should the parents be unable to act as the childs manger, then they can hire one. All they have to do is take some photos and then send this through the mail. If you do not receive anything within a 3 month period, take some new photos and send it out again which is the same thing you have to do when you are looking for an agent.

While waiting for the phone to ring, your childs acting career can be further developed by getting projects in student films. You can visit the nearby college or universitys film department to see if there are any ads. It won’t pay much but at least your child will get the experience and add another project to their existing resume.

It will also be a good idea to find an acting coach as this will help your child build his ability and confidence.

In time, someone will your child for an appointment. Before you go to the interview, do some research about the company so you know that this is not a scam. If everything looks legitimate, prepare your child by asking him or her some questions that the agent will likely ask as this will help a lot when they are speaking face to face with that individual. One thing that parents will have to do during the interview is just sit there, keep quiet and listen.

There is no guarantee that when you are called in for an interview that your child will already be accepted. If things go well, then you have taken your first steps towards an acting career. This means attending auditions right after school and getting ready to attend bookings if a deal has been made.

If the agent says otherwise, don’t feel bad and keep looking. Maybe your child is not ready yet to shine in the limelight but as long as you are both patient and persistent, it will happen.

An agent normally gets 10% to 30% for every project that your child will make during their acting career. If you and your child are happy with the efforts being done by the agent, then you can stick with them for the long haul. Should things go sour, perhaps it is time to talk to them one last time and then decide to get rid of them and hire someone else.

What is the most important thinng I should go to acting school for?

Im just starting out in acting Im going to enroll in acting school this summer they have a variety of begginer classes such as Improvasion, acting for the camera (comercial) etc. If so could you suggest what will be the most important for someone who is just starting out.

Adhd After School

Most forward-thinking teachers and instructors understand how to meet the special needs of children with ADHD. Unfortunately, many parents don’t.

ADHD is an acronym for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Children with ADHD struggle with attention problems, as well as hyperactivity. Teachers are trained to help ADHD kids deal with their personal obstacles and meet their learning potential. However, parents can often find it difficult to keep children safely occupied after school hours.

If your child has ADHD, the first step to choosing the right after school activity is to understand how he or she is affected by the condition. If your child is interested in sports, you need to know if he or she is put off by fierce competitiveness, or is overly competitive. Is it easy for your child to get along with teammates? Does your child vocalize emotions, or is communication a problem?

Physical exercise is beneficial to all children, and perhaps more so for children with ADHD. Exercise can use up the extra energy and help stimulate the brain. Team activities offer kids to learn valuable social skills and discipline. If your child shies away from team sports, you may want to look at activities like swimming, dancing, cycling or gymnastics. Martial arts are a great alternative, as they teach self-defense techniques along with discipline, patience and self-control.

Some kids tend to gravitate towards fine arts rather than athletics. There are wonderful after school opportunities for artistic kids with ADHD. acting or improv classes provide a great form of creative expression and exercise. drama classes can also provide the child with ample opportunity to develop social skills. Music, art or dance can help a child with ADHD keep busy and entertained, while providing a valuable sense of self-worth and accomplishment.

Scouting is another good after-school option. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and other community-oriented clubs teach children social skills and personal values. Like all children, kids with ADHD love to take part in special interest projects, and help with community efforts like park clean-up projects.

Whatever after school program you choose, be sure to monitor your child’s progress periodically. Ask your child’s coach, instructor or counselor for help in assessing your child’s development. If you feel that he or she is not benefiting from the program, you may need to consider changing the activity.

Any after school program that increases your child’s self-esteem is good, but certain activities may be detrimental to the development of a child suffering from ADHD. Excessive television use should be avoided, as well as certain computer and video games. These activities involve no interaction and can leave your child feeling more all the more isolated. Kids with ADHD can sometimes find it difficult to distinguish between good and the bad messages, so they may be inclined to exhibit inappropriate actions or act out contrary messages. On the other hand, group activities that require a child to sit and wait patiently for his or her turn might not be a success.

Children with ADHD are normal kids facing above average challenges. It is important to allow them to take part with their peers in regular after school programs. Take the time to review options with your child, and choose after school activities that are fulfilling, challenging and above all, rewarding.
