How to do good at an audition for a drama?

I have to do a cold reading for an audition for the drama.
Any tips/advice?

If you know the piece they will be doing study it or the author of the piece, if you can. Even a brief overview can help you understand the direction of the piece. You could dress to fit the part/s.
also if you know the director you can research that person.
On the other hand you could try to look like a blank canvas with neutral clothes and especially neutral/natural hair.

Above all else, being on stage is about good public speaking skills.
E nun ci ate. Make the director think that you could connect with the audience.
Read your line then look up and deliver it. Always, always, read then deliver. A sentence at a time if you have to. Practice with the newspaper, or internet, or just anything you can read. Read a line, look up, deliver line.

What are typical acting school hours?

I work nights in NYC and was wondering what are the typical acting school hours? Would I be able to find an acting school I could go to around my working hours? Any suggestions?

many have Sat or Sunday hours.

What is your best advice for my acting and writing debut?

In a few weeks I may very well be writing a short play for a professional theatre company to be performed in front of 400 people at a nearby theatre. I will be attending workshops for playwrights to devise a play with a disabled theme. The playwrights will have the opportunity to act!! That means, if I have the courage, I could very well be on stage acting at a local theatre!! I am going to voluteer. Some of the actors are disabled. I especially want to hear from other people involved in theatre or who have had some experience. I have written a few plays, but not acted in a professional theatre.
I will be so pleased to hear from you.

Go for it! And don’t get too ahead of yourself. Just do the best you can!

Confidence and Faith are the best weapons. Don’t worry, all will work out just fine.

Spanish movie theaters in Long Island/NYC area?

does anybody know if there are either, movie theaters with movies in spanish and english subtitles OR movies in english with spanish subtitles anywhere in the Long Island/NYC area?

When does that movie called Management starring Jennifer Aniston come into theaters or has it already?

Is it already in theaters or when does it go into theaters?
If u have seen it, is it good?

It had a limited release in theatres on May 15, but it was met with a lukewarm reception at the box office and from critics, so it was pulled from theatres. It will be released on DVD on September 29.

I haven’t seen the movie, but I’ll probably rent it when it comes out on DVD.

What should the wife and I wear to a Performing Arts show?

This isn’t really my thing, but I wanted to surprise my wife and spent alot of money on tickets to a Performing Arts show. My question is what do we wear to this this thing? Should I bust out my suit and Tie or can I get away with less?

Thanks for your help!

Whenever I go for a rock show…i usually wear jeans and all that stuff(including caps,lockets,etc)..if the show is classical…traditional dress works for me and if i’m going to attend a ”family show" or when i am at the performing arts show..i usually wear suit and a tie…i keep on changing the colour-patterns of the tie for a change…

would you be interested in being an angel for a musical theater production?

if you are the people to be interested in sponsoring a unique musical theater work, please contact me. highly recommended work,
very timely.
workshop in planning stage.

Perhaps you should include a link that tells us a bit about you and your theatre company, most of the users on here are not wiling to randomly hand out cash especially since you are asking a group of struggling artists, I strongly suggest grant writing and holding local fundraising events.

How can I make a model of a movie theater within 4 days?

The model’s length and width have to be slightly longer than a 8.5" x 11" piece of paper. I would also like a roof that can be removed to view the interior of the movie theater. Four people can work on the model at the same time. What materials should I use and how should I build it?

Foam-core paper is the easiest material to work with… though I would use sheet-styrene plastic for it’s durablity and many different thicknesses and because it also comes in industrial shapes like I and H beams !

Obviously, you’ll want to do a design on paper, at a specific SCALE… make as many mistakes as possible on PAPER !

As the other answerer mentioned… a lip will support your roof, and you can make a"handle" out of a roof-air-conditioner.
