Would you consider Blue Man Group a performing arts event?
I know musicals like CATS and broadway plays like Phantom of the Opera are fall under the category of performing arts, but what about Blue Man Group?
I demand someone answer this question right now!
Good answer flora, thanks.
Blue Man group is DEFINITELY performing arts. I’ve been to a show before..they dance, play instruments, act (pantomime). Totally definitely yes performing arts.
Transitioning from a classical vocalist to a musical theater vocalist?
I’m a classical singer. I went to college and majored in Music (vocal/classical.) I’m now continuing my studies and I am beginning to get into some musical theater. My vocal coach told me to pick a piece that I would like to work on. Idk any musical theater peices that would be good for me. I am a soprano. Since it’s musical theater and I would be belting would I pick something lower? What would be some good songs to work on?
The Singer’s Musical Theatre Anthology – Volume 1, Revised – Soprano
this book has plenty of good stuff, be careful if you go to auditions though not to pick an over done song. even if you can blow it out of the water no one will listen because they’ve heard it a thousand times before. (No Les Miserable, think of me, I could have danced all night, My funny Valentine, etc.)
What do you call the space between hallway doors and theater doors in a movie theater?
I’m working on a project that involves designing a movie theater, and I’d like to know what to call the space. For example, when you’re in the hallway getting ready to enter the theater that’s showing your movie, you enter one set of doors into a dim corridor, then another set of doors into the theater proper. Is there a specific name for that short corridor?
It could possibly be referred to as the foyer. I looked at some design plans, and it was usually labeled simply as "exit".
Is it common for people doing a performing arts BTEC to go to drama school?
Do drama schools think highly of it?
Definatly!
I assume youre doing a BTEC? It is more broad i imagine compared to the A-levels in Drama & Media i did. As far as i know performing arts BTEC students do acting and dancing and directing etc. So drama school would be one of the expected paths for you to take, its like being more specific with what you want to do next.
They will think highly of it, don’t think you’re disadvantaged because you have spent less time on acting overall. If anything you have an advantage because you have a wider knowledge of the whole spectrum of Theatre and performances.
Good luck!
What sort of experience should you have when auditioning for drama schools?
When do you think is the best time to audition for Drama schools? – When you first leave sixth form…or do you think you should get some experience first?
I already take drama and performing arts, see shows and do theatre stuff stuff outside of sixth form – but what sort of experience do you think they like you to have? Is it worth doing a year course in drama at Uni or something and auditioning for drama school when you are a bit older?
Any advice would be appreciated ![]()
Take part in as many shows as you can and if you want to apply when you leave 6th form, then do. But don’t give up if you don’t get offered a place. Some drama schools prefer their students to have seen a bit of life. You may be lucky and get in, or might have to wait for a year before applying again. Whatever happens, keep trying to take part in as much as possible. Good luck.

Where can I find a good acting school?
Since I’m trying to get better at acting and my mom wants me to have a career that can support me, I was thinking of finding a school I could attend sperate from college. I like in Atlanta, Georgia as of now but I would like to move away so I’m opened to any suggestions as long as its not out of the US.
There are hundreds of good school around the US, so it’s impossible to answer your question without more details from you. For Atlanta, you’ll find everything you need at this website:

Let us know what your college major will be and were you’ll be attending and we can provide a better answer.
How important is it to study acting in college to be a successful actor?
How important do you think it is to study acting (i.e. be an acting/theatre/drama/performing arts major) in college to be a good, skillful, and successful (not in terms of becoming some major motion picture star, but in terms of knowing your craft) actor?
not really that much in terms of becoming a "star" like you stated. however, it can help cultivate your talent adn possibly lnad you on broadway much easier than what it takes to be a "star." most of the tv stars and movie stars could not do plays and even get past the first round of broadway casting (ex. Vin Diesel, Ice Cube, Paris Hilton, etc.).
Fantasy movie, maybe Italian or Spanish about a trip to the moon?
I watched this movie as a kid. It seems as if it was done in the 80’s or 90’s? It’s a fantasy movie about a man/boy or both that take this long journey to the moon. It might be an Italian or Spanish movie with English subtitles. I think the title was something to the effect of "Italian male name" goes to the moon? To further add to the poor clues, I think the beginning of the movie started with a boy running around in an opera house or theatre. Any ideas would be great.
I don’t know about Spanish movies, and I don’t think there was such an Italian movie after 1969.
But there is the Italian movie "Totò nella luna" (= "Totò in the moon") of 1958. I think there are no kids in it though.
Totò was to Italy what Jerry Lewis was to USA, the most famous comedian.
